Uraohjain service 6 months

The Uraohjain service started on 1.11.2023 and has now been operational for about 6 months. The service provides jobseekers in the ICT, software development and media sectors with career guidance, skills upgrading and support for everyday well-being. The aim is to promote employment in a holistic way. The service is a joint project between StadinAO, Laurea University of Applied Sciences and Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, co-funded by the European Union. The joint project is called Uraohjin+ and started on 1.3.2023 and will run until 28.2.2025.

By 15.5.2024, 143 trainees had started their careers with the Uraohjain service. Around one fifth of these were from the media sector and four fifths from the ICT and software development sectors.

Tthe framework of the Uraohjain service is a service pathway, which includes steps common to all the trainees, as well as sections selected individually according to the needs of the trainee. The service path includes, for example, discussing the objectives of the Uraohjain period, the situation and future plans of the person being guided, career planning and a plan for skills upgrading, refining CVs and job search documents, and addressing everyday well-being from an employment perspective.

An important tool for guidance and independent work is the Uraohjain Platform, a package created in the DigiCampus environment, where, for example, guides return their job application documents before the career guidance interview and where they can complete the tasks they have chosen to support their employment. The tasks relate to identifying and articulating one's skills, career goals and planning, and marketing one's skills.

As the holiday season approaches, the Uraohjain service is preparing for the summer break and will resume its active activities in August.
